Lose the mind of the world or your own soul?

“The problem is not only to win souls but to save minds. If you win the
whole world and lose the mind of the world you will soon discover you
have not won the world. Indeed, it may turn out that you have actually
lost the world.” –  Charlie Malik F

A friend on Facebook had the above quote as her status. I thought it’s rather Christian-sounding, but not biblically sound. (I always differentiate between Christian and biblical.) Here’s the subtle twist: Jesus Christ addresses the same issue and His words are:

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? – Matt 16:26

While Charlie Malik F. goes on to tackle the issue of worldviews and saving minds, Jesus Christ is concerned about the individual’s soul! Nowhere does the Bible mention that Christians must go out and change the mind of the world. That is not the Gospel. The Gospel is that if you don’t repent and turn to Christ to escape the wrath of God on the unrighteous and receive forgiveness of sins, you will face His fury one day and for ever. Christ is the Way of escape. Once you have repented of your sins and your sinful lifestyle, begin living a righteous life with the help of the Holy Spirit. It is through sanctification that salvation is assured; you are equally lost as the rest of the world if you merely call yourself Christian but don’t live the Word. It’s not your title God is interested in, it’s your lifestyle.

So if you’re one of those who is made to believe in transforming the world by changing the mind of the world and making it more Christian, be assured that your doctrine is unbiblical. Jesus spoke of apostasy and a great falling away from the truth in the last days, not a great revival.
